Dr. Cooper's research focuses on the application of advanced analytical techniques to environmental biogeochemistry
studies of natural waters and sediments. Dr. Cooper has over 20 years experience in this field. Current projects in Dr. Cooper's laboratory include separation of complex mixtures of naturally occurring dissolved organic matter by capillary electrophoresis; qualitative and quantitative characterization of organic forms of important aquatic nutrients by high-field Fourier transform ion cyclotron resonance mass spectroscopy and high resolution inductively coupled plasma mass spectroscopy; characterization of the chemical composition of soil and sedimentary organic matter by 13C NMR spectroscopy and supercritical fluid chromatography and extraction for environmental analysis.
Dr. Cooper is Associate Professor of Chemistry at Florida State University and serves
as affiliate scholar scientist at the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory.
