In order to mobilize the best scientific and technological resources for addressing widespread environmental problems, a global perspective is needed.  Only then can we hope to find the most promising solutions to environmental problems affecting our planet.  Perhaps the most significant and long-lasting consequence of the Institute for International Cooperative Environmental Research (IICER) at Florida State University is the opportunity it provides to initiate international cooperative efforts since, in the final analysis, it will be individuals working together who will solve our environmental problems.”
